Oruganti Crowned as Individual Champion at Chick-fil-A Invitational for Men's Golf

The Emory University men's golf team picked up a second place finish at the Chick-fil-A Invitational while also earning the teams first individual winner of the season. The 36-hole tournament was played on the 6,724-yard, par-72 Stonebridge Golf Club course. 

The No. 2 ranked Eagles finished the tournament in second place after registering a two round total of 587 (292-295). The Eagles led the field in total pars notching 110 total and they also knocked in  a tournament high four eagles, the most by Emory this season. At the tournament's conclusion, Centre sat atop the podium having registered a 586 (293-293), besting the Eagles by a single stroke, while Berry finished in the bronze medalist position with a score of 596 (304-292).

Sophomore Prayaag Oruganti had the best tournament of his young collegiate career earning the Eagles their first individual tournament win of the season after carding a 139 (70-69) which is tied for the sixth best two-round score in program history. Oruganti tallied three of Emory's four eagles at the tournament and also had the best total on all par-4 holes scoring a -5 on those holes. Along with Oruganti, junior Logan Lowery and Parker Shimp were all named to the All-Tournament Team for their performances at the Chick-fil-A Invitational.  Lowery posted a score of 145 (74-71) which saw him finish fourth overall. Shimp, competing as an individual, recorded a score of 146 (75-71) which topped all individuals and saw him tie for fifth overall. 

Also competing for the Eagles was sophomore Nicholas Nautiyal who finished tied for 11th after carding a 148, scoring a 74 in each of the first and second rounds. Senior Grant Drogosch had a rock-solid outing, posting a score of 155 (74-81) to finish tied for 36th in the field of 94 golfers. Junior Tarun Hoskere rounded out scoring for the Eagles with a registered score of 156 (74-82) and a 43rd place tie finish. The final Eagle in competition was freshman Brian Hanson, who competed as an individual and registered a 150 (76-74) score to place him in a 16th place tie. 

The Eagles are back in action next week for their final tournament of the fall semester at the O'Briant/Jensen Collegiate in Greensboro, NC on October 31st - November 1st.
