Men's Golf Lands Four on All-UAA Team; Klutznick/Mu Earn End of Season Honors

The Emory University men's golf team saw four members honored by the University Athletic Association Tuesday morning as the league announced its 2023-24 end-of-year award winners.

Senior Jackson Klutznick became the latest Eagle to capture Player of the Year acclaim while freshman Kevin Mu was tabbed as a Co-Rookie of the Year. Klutznick was one of two Emory golfers on the Association's First Team with junior Michael Burry also earning First Team honors. Junior Tony Li secured All-UAA honors as well, garnering a spot on the Second Team. Head Coach John Sjoberg and Assistant Coach Keenan Hickton were tabbed as the conference's Coaching Staff of the Year for the second straight year and the third time since 2019. It is the seventh time Sjoberg and his staff have been honored since 2012.

Klutznick is the sixth Eagle to earn Player of the Year honors since 2016, following Burry who earned the distinction last season. This season, Klutznick is averaging a staggering 71.9 per round and has been named to four All-Tournament teams. He opened the season with a dominating performance at the Gate City Invitational, winning medalist honors with a program record of 197 which included a final round score of 61. He was named the UAA tournament MVP in October after leading the Eagles to yet another conference crown.

Mu has put together a rookie season where he has appeared in seven tournaments, shooting 229 or better, and is fifth on the team with a round average of 74.4. At the Gate City Invite, Mu finished one-under at 212, his best score of the season, and aided in the team's win at the UAA Championships later that fall.

For Burry, this represents his second straight appearance on the All-UAA First Team. This year, he is second on the team with a 72.8 round average with his best performances coming at Gate City and Savannah Invitationals where he carded a 213 and 2014. He had three rounds this season under 70 including a season-best 67 in the final round at the NCAA DIII Preview in October.

Li rounds out the All-Conference Eagles as he collects his third career All-UAA selection, having previously been honored on the Association's First Team as a sophomore and the Second Team as a freshman en route to garnering Rookie of the Year honors. As a junior, Li has seen action in eight competitions with the highlight of his year coming at the Tartan Invitational where he secured medalist honors and was tabbed to the All-UAA tournament team. He has posted a 73.6 score average with his best performance coming at Gate City Invitational where he shot 210 across the three rounds.

The Eagles begin the NCAA Championships on Tuesday looking for the first national title in program history. The 2024 NCAA Championships are being held in Boulder City, Nevada from May 14-17.
