Emory sophomore Austin Claunch turned in
an outstanding effort in helping the men's basketball team to
a season-opening 85-81 overtime win over Oglethorpe
University. Claunch scored a career-high 19 points and tied
the school record with 11 assists.
He ended the evening sinking seven-of-10 from the floor, including
a pair from beyond the arc, and knocked down all three of his free
throw opportunities en route to his third career effort of
double-figure scoring. His 11 assists against the Stormy
Petrels tied him with Paul Damm (1988) and Anthony Mazzei (1999)
for the top spot on the Eagles' game list.
