Emory freshman Alex Greven's pull-up jumper with five seconds left proved to the winning basket Sunday afternoon as the Eagles rallied for 64-63 win over Brandeis University.  With the victory, Emory upped its overall record to 15-9, 7-6 in the University Athletic Association.  The Judges saw their overall mark slip to 18-6; 8-5 in the conference.

Emory faced a five-point deficit, 63-58, with 1:36 remaining before a pair of foul shots by senior Anthony Fernandez cut the gap to three points with 1:11 left.  Following a missed field goal, sophomore Austin Claunch crept the Eagles to within 63-62 with 45 ticks on the clock after he knocked down a pair of free throws.  The Judges attempted a three-point shot that misfired with Greven grabbing the defensive board that led to the late-game heroics.  Brandeis had a final opportunity to win the game but its attempt was off the mark, allowing Emory to record the program's most conference wins since the 2000-01 campaign.

Emory finished the game shooting 44.0 percent (22-of-50) from the floor while the visiting Judges posted a 40.7 percent effort (24-of-59).  The Eagles sank 14-of-20 from the charity stripe while Brandeis was successful on eight-of-15. 

Leading the Emory scoring effort was Daniel Curtin with a game-high tying 16 points.  Curtin, who was honored before the game with fellow seniors Chad Hixon and Fernandez, hit seven-of-12 from the floor in registering his ninth double-figure scoring game of the season.  Freshman Michael Friedberg gave the Eagles a big boost off the bench, totaling a personal high of 13 points, hitting four-of-five from the floor and four-of-six from the charity stripe.  Rounding out the team's double-figure scorers was Claunch with 12 points.

Brandeis was led by senior Terrell Hollins who racked up 16 points while pulling down 19 rebounds.

Emory closes out the regular season next Saturday (Feb. 27) at the University of Rochester.
