THE COACHES - Leading the Emory program is fifth-year Head Coach Jason Zimmerman (Davidson, 1994). Named head coach in April of 2007, Zimmerman came to Emory after serving as an assistant coach at the University of Evansville (2003-04 through 2006-07).  Prior to his stint with the Aces, Zimmerman was an assistant at Davidson College for seven years (1996-97 through 2002-03).  During his tenure with the Eagles' program, he has compiled a school and career record of 67-51.

Last season, Zimmerman directed the Eagles to an overall record of 20-5, the program's first 20-win campaign since 1989-90.  In addition, Emory placed second in the University Athletic Association with an 11-3 slate, the second-highest league win total in school annals.

Mike McGrath (DePauw, 1992) is in his 13th season as head coach of the Chicago program and brings a school and career ledger of 192-133 into Friday's game.  During his stint at UC, McGrath has been tabbed as the UAA's Coach of the Year on three occasions while directing the Maroons to four league titles.

In his 31st campaign in patrolling the sidelines at Washington University is Mark Edwards (Washington Univ., 1969).  Heading into a Friday road contest against Rochester, Edwards owns a school and career mark of 556-255.  He directed the Bears to D-III national titles in 2008 and 2009 and has been tabbed as the UAA Coach of the Year on eight occasions.

RECORDS – Emory, ranked 17th in this week's D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, stands 15-3 overall, 4-3 in the University Athletic Association.  The Eagles are coming off a pair of road setbacks to this weekend's opponents, dropping a wild 103-102 decision at Chicago last Friday before coming up short, 99-88, at Washington University on Sunday.  The team's record is the second-best 18-game ledger in school history, trailing only the 1989-90 squad's 17-1 mark.

Chicago comes to town sporting an overall slate of 11-7, 4-3 in the conference.  After defeating Emory, the Maroons topped Rochester, 96-92.

Wash U., ranked 25th by D3hoops.com, stands 14-4 in overall play, including a league-leading 6-1 in conference action.  Prior to meeting Emory last Sunday, the Bears defeated Rochester, 83-78.

SERIES RECORDS – In a series that began in January of 1987, Chicago posts an all-time mark of 34-16 against Emory.  The Maroons have won 13 of the 24 meeting against Emory that have been played in Atlanta, though the Eagles have captured the last two contests at the Woodruff PE Center.

Washington U.  holds a 39-10 advantage in the all-time series with Emory.  In games played in Atlanta, WU stands 17-7 all-time vs. Emory.

EMORY PUTS HOME COURT STREAK ON THE LINE – When Emory welcomes Chicago to campus on Friday, it will be putting its 16-game home court winning streak on the line.  After winning their last nine games at the Woodruff PE Center last season, the Eagles have captured all seven of their home encounters this year, outpointing their opponents by a healthy 83.4-68.7 per-game margin.  Emory's last loss at home came on Dec. 30, 2010, when Washington and Lee posted an 86-75 win.  The Eagles have won their last 11 UAA home games dating from the final home league appearance during the 2009-10 campaign.

CLAUNCH PUTS TOGETHER BACK-TO-BACK 20-POINT CONTESTS – Senior Austin Claunch turned in back-to-back 20-plus point efforts in last weekend's contests, averaging 23.5 points and shooting 60.7 percent (17-of-28) from the floor in the process.  Against Chicago, the 5-foot-9 Claunch rang up a team-high 24 points, 17 in the second half, and also doled out nine assists in 27 minutes of action.  He converted nine-of-12 from the field, including three-of-five from three-point range.  He followed that performance by leading the team in scoring for the third straight and sixth game overall this season by registering 23 points, while distributing nine assists, against Wash U.  He was successful on eight of his 16 field goal attempts and knocked down four treys in six tries en route to posting his ninth game of the year and 16th in his career of 20 or more points with Emory registering a 13-3 won-lost effort in those contests.   Claunch is averaging 19.7 points and shooting 48.1 percent from the floor in Emory's seven home games while tossing in 18.0 points and shooting 49.6 percent from the field in the team's 11 away/neutral contests.  He has scored in double figures in his last 32 consecutive contests.

Claunch's efforts against UC and WU boosted his career scoring total to 1,183 points, good for a fifth-place tie with David Gaynes (1986-90) on the school's all-time scoring list.  He has 399 career field goals to his name, seventh all-time at Emory, and he ranks 13th on the Eagles' career chart with 113 three-point field goals.  Already the school career record holder with 522 assists, Claunch ranks prominently on the school's all-time ladder in free throws (6th, 272), free throw percentage (2nd, .871) and steals (5th, 151). In addition, he has drawn 70 starting assignments, 10th all-time at Emory.

As for this season, he tops the league and holds down the No. 5 position nationally in assists (6.8 apg).  He is third among UAA performers in scoring for overall action (18.7 ppg) and his 20.4 per-game average in league contests is good for the No. 2 spot.   He is second in steals (1.8 spg), fifth in free throw percentage (.859, 61-of-71), first in assist/turnover ratio (2.9) and second in minutes (33.8 mpg).

EMORY TIES SCHOOL FG% RECORD IN CHICAGO GAME – Emory shot a school-record tying 63.3 percent (38-of-60) from the floor in its game vs. Chicago last Friday while the squad's 38 field goals tied the ninth-highest game total in school annals.  The previous time the Eagles shot 63.3 percent from the floor came against Case Western on Feb. 23, 2002.   The Eagles' shot a blistering 69.0 percent (20-of-29) from the field in the second half against the Maroons, the second-highest effort for a half by a Zimmerman-coached Emory team.

DAVIS CONSISTENCY A KEY FOR EMORY --  Sophomore Jake Davis opened last weekend with 21 points (second high on the team) against Chicago and followed that with a 16-point afternoon against Washington University, extending his double-figure scoring streak to 18 games.  The 6-foot-5 Davis has posted seven outings of 20 or more points this year and he will enter the Chicago game tops on the club and second among UAA players with a 19.2 points-per-game scoring average, with that mark good for 48th place nationally.  In league action, his 18.7 per-game scoring effort stands third on the conference leader board.   Davis, whose 53.3 percent mark from the floor is second on the team and 10th in the UAA, has connected on 50 percent or better on his field goal attempts in 11 games.   Over the last three contests, he is connecting at a keen 58.6 percent (17-of-29) clip from the floor.

His six double-doubles leads the UAA with David Thompson of Case Western and Youri Dascy of NYU next up with four each.  Emory has compiled a 7-2 won-lost mark when Davis has manufactured a double-double during his career.

The team's top point producer in seven contests, Davis is averaging 18.4 points and shooting 50 percent (50-of-100) in Emory's seven home games while putting up 19.7 points and converting 55.6 percent (80-of-144) from the field in the Eagles' 11 away/neutral contests.

Davis checks into the Chicago game as the team leader in rebounding with a 7.3 per-game showing, good for the No. 4 spot in the league and a 15th-place tie on the school's seasonal list.  He has topped the squad in rebounding in 10 games in 2011-12 and his six double-figure efforts in that category has boosted his career total to nine games.  He needs seven caroms to reach the 300-career rebound plateau.

FRIEDBERG THE REJECTOR – Junior Michael Friedberg extended his streak to 12 games with at least one blocked shot last weekend when he swatted away one Chicago shot attempt before posting a pair of rejections in the Wash U contest.  Friedberg enters Friday's action No. 1 in the UAA and 12th nationally in blocked shots with a 2.5 per-game average.  His two blocks against the Bears represented his 11th outing of multiple rejections this year and his 42 total blocks tie him with Tim Garrett (1989-90) for third place on Emory's seasonal chart.  Friedberg holds down the No. 2 spot on that last with 51 rejections during the 2010-11 campaign.

Career-wise, Friedberg stands third all-time at Emory with 111 blocked shots.  In addition to his blocks numbers, he ranks No. 2 on the team and ninth in the UAA in rebounding with a 5.9 per-game showing.  He has finished with six or more boards in nine contests and has three games of double figures.

On the offensive end of the floor, he is averaging 11.5 points per game, good for 15th place among UAA players.  He is team's top shooter with his 54.2 percent mark (71-of-131) placing him seventh on the league ladder.  He has scored in double figures on 10 occasions this season including four of his last five outings.
