Alex Greven Named UAA Men's Basketball Player Of The Week; Earns A Spot On D3Hoops.com Team Of The Week

Emory University senior Alex Greven (Winston-Salem, NC) has been selected by the University Athletic Association as Men's Basketball Player of the Week following his performances at home  against Case Western and Carnegie Mellon.   It marks the second time this season and fourth time in his career that Greven has been selected for the honor.  In addition, Greven was tabbed for a berth on the D3hoop.com Team of the Week for the first time during his four-year tenure on the team.

Greven put together a pair of back-to-back season-high tying 26 point contests as the Eagles defeated Case Western, 106-87, and Carnegie Mellon, 84-61.  Greven tied for game-high scoring honors against CWRU, hitting nine-of-16 from the floor including a career-best six-of-nine from three-point range.  Against Carnegie Mellon, he led all players in scoring, continuing his hot-shooting ways by converting eight-of-11 from the field while tying his career best with another six trey-performance in nine tries.

In the two games combined, he shot .630 (17-of-27) from the floor including .667 (12-of-18) from distance.  He now has eight outings of 20 or more points this year.

A double-figure scorer in 21 games, he has either led or shared for team scoring honors on seven occasions this year.  Alex ranks second on the squad and third among University Athletic Association players in scoring with a 16.9 per-game average.   He has knocked down a team-high 60 three-point field goals and his mark of 2.6 triples per game ranks second in the league.

Emory, 17-6 overall, hosts Covenant College on Tuesday (Feb. 19) in a home contest before battling Rochester on Saturday at the Woodruff PE Center at 4:00 pm.
