Emory Men's Basketball To Host Randolph College In NCAA Tournament First-Round Game

The Emory men's basketball team has received an at-large bid to the NCAA Men's Division III Basketball Tournament and will host a first-round game on Saturday at the Wooodruff PE Center. The start time is yet to be determined.

The Eagles of head coach Jason Zimmerman, the owners of an overall record of 19-6, will entertain the WildCats of Randolph College who finished off the regular season with a mark of 21-6.  Randolph also garnered an at-large bid after coming up short to Virginia Wesleyan in the finals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship.

Emory heads into its matchup against Randolph with victories in its last five and in six of the last seven contests.  The Eagles captured a piece of the University Athletic Association championship on Saturday with a decisive 72-54 win over Rochester, running its home record to 11-2 on the season.

Emory closed out the regular season portion of the schedule with a league-high 82.2 points per game scoring average while topping the loop in scoring margin (+15.1 ppg).  Junior Jake Davis (17.7 ppg) and senior Alex Grevn (16.8 ppg) rank 2-3, respectively, among conference scoring leaders while senior Michael Friedberg holds down the No. 5 slot among league cagers in rebounds (7.2 rpg) and the top position in blocked shots (2.2 bpg).

The WildCats are led by senior Colton Hunt whose 24.6 points-per-game scoring average paced all ODAC players.

This marks Emory's second NCAA appearance in the history of the program and first since 1990.
