Matt Davet Named UAA Men's Basketball Co-Player Of The Week

Matt Davet Named UAA Men's Basketball Co-Player Of The Week

Emory University sophomore Matt Davet (University Heights, OH) has been selected by the University Athletic Association as Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week following his efforts in road games against Washington University and the University of Chicago.  Davet shares the honor with Cole Schmitz from Chicago, and it is the first time in his career that he has earned the award.

The 6-foot-7 Davet averaged a team-high 26.0 points, shot 53.3 percent (16-of-30) from the floor, including 46.2 percent (6-of-13) from three-point range, and converted 87.5 percent (14-of-16) of his free throw attempts as the Eagles closed out the weekend with an overall slate of 10-4, 1-2 in the UAA.

Davet tied for game scoring honors with 25 points (20 coming in the second half) in a 108-98 victory over the Bears of Wash U, converting seven-of-15 from the floor, three-of-eight from beyond the arc and eight-of-10 from the charity stripe. He followed that performance by topping all players with a career-best 27 points in an overtime setback to Chicago, knocking down nine-of-15 from the field, including three treys in five tries, while converting six-of-six from the foul line. He also led all players with 11 rebounds, which represented his second double-double of the season and third outing of 10 or more boards. His three-pointer with 11 ticks on the clock in regulation knotted the score at 84-84 and forced the extra session.

Through 14 games, Matt leads the conference in scoring with a 18.1 points-per-game average and is No. 2 on the squad in rebounding (6.7 rpg). He has scored in double figures on 12 occasions and has dialed up three straight and seven contests of 20 or more points.

Emory, 10-4 on the year and 1-2 in conference outings, returns to action on Friday, Jan. 18, when it hosts Case Western Reserve.
