Emory University senior Andrew Jones converted a key penalty kick in the first half of Saturday’s game against 13th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University, guiding the Eagles to a 1-1 double-overtime tie against the Tartans. The goal came on the first penalty kick attempt of Jones’ career, as the successful try in the ninth minute gave Emory a 1-0 lead at the time. The forward and two-time all-University Athletic Association (UAA) honorable mention also played a career-high 105 minutes during the game. Jones now has three goals and four assists this season, and is tied for third on the team with 10 points. Emory finished the regular season second in the UAA with a 4-1-2 record in conference games, and an overall record of 11-5-2.
