Junior Jason McCartney scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, and added an assist as the Emory University Men's Soccer team bounced back on Tuesday night with a 3-2 overtime win at Birmingham-Southern College. With the victory, the Eagles improved to 6-3 overall while the Panthers fall to 7-3. 

Emory jumped out to a 2-0 lead with two first half goals. Freshman William Jones netted his first career goal on the assist from McCartney to give the Eagles a 1-0 in the 22^nd minute. Two minutes later, McCartney scored a goal of his own on the helper from sophomore Moustafa Khattab to push the Emory lead to two.

BSC responded in the second half with a pair of goals of their own. The Panthers cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 75^th minute as Dallas Coyne converted a penalty kick goal. With under a minute remaining regulation, Birmingham-Southern knotted the score at 2-2 as Dylan Rose pushed one home off the feed from Patrick Erickson.

With 29 seconds left to play in the first overtime period, McCartney connected for the game-winner as he knocked in the loose ball following the corner kick by Khattab. The two goal game is the first of his career for the junior and gives him a new career-high with five goals on the season.

The Eagles outshot the Panthers in the contest, 16-11, including an 8-5 margin on shots on goal. McCartney led all players with five shots with four being on target.

Emory returns to action this Saturday as they travel to 8^th-ranked Washington University in a University Athletic Association matchup. The game is tentatively set to get underway at 2:30 pm eastern.
