Senior (2017):

CoSIDA Academic All-District selection for the second straight season…Started all 21 games he played in… Led an Emory defensive unit that posted a 0.92 goals-against average with nine shutouts while limiting opponents to five shots on goal or fewer in 17 contests…Recorded one goal and one assist for three points on the offensive end…Was named the Sonny Carter Tournament MVP and UAA Defensive Player of the Week (9/6) after leading the Eagles to a 2-0 record with back-to-back shutouts and scored the game-winning goal in the tournament clinching win against Pacific Lutheran on September 2^nd…Played every minute of a possible 380 during the NCAA Tournament, helping the Eagles advance to the Quarterfinals for the second time in program history.

Junior (2016):

NSCAA South Atlantic All-Region Third Team…All-University Athletic Association Second Team…CoSIDA Academic All-District…Gardiner served as the defensive captain during the 2016 season, anchoring the Emory backline that finished the year with a 1.20 goals-against average, allowing just 20 goals in 16 games while holding opponents to averages of 10.4 shots and 4.1 shots on goal per game…On the offensive end, Gardiner finished with a career-high five points…Scored his first career goal in a 2-1 victory at Berry College on September 16^th…Added an assist in Emory’s 1-1 draw versus Carnegie Mellon on October 16^th…Netted another tally in the Eagles’ 4-0 win at Covenant on October 22^nd…The Vienna, VA native also earned a spot on the Sonny Carter Invitational team at the start of the year, helping Emory to a second place finish at the annual tournament.

Sophomore (2015):

Gardiner played in all but one game for the Eagles during his sophomore season, making 14 starts. He finished with one assist for one point on the year. He earned his first collegiate point in Emory’s 7-1 win over St. Joseph’s (Brooklyn) on September 5^th, assisting on the game-winning goal.

Freshman (2014):

Gardiner played in four games during his freshman season.  His collegiate debut came in a starting role, playing all 90 minutes at center back during the Eagles’ 3-2 win over Rutgers-Newark on August 30^th.

Honors:

Prior to Emory:

Was a four-year member of the James Madison High School soccer team, serving as a captain during both his junior and senior years... Was named to the All-Conference First Team and was an honorable mention to the All-Region Team his senior year... Earned Liberty District honorable mention recognition his junior year... Scored two goals and assisted on three others his senior season... Coached in high school by Matt Griep... Also played club soccer for the Loudoun '95 Red squad for two years, where he was coached by John O'Hara... Helped his team to the Virginia State Cup Championship in 2012, and to the finals from 2011-13.

Personal:

Born February 15th... A member of the Spanish, History and National Honor Societies in high school...Son of Mark and Martha Gardiner.
