Berman, Hudson, Mehlman Garner United Soccer Coaches All-Region Honors

The Emory University men's soccer program saw a senior trio named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team as announced earlier this week. Defender Josh Berman earned First Team acclaim with goalkeeper Jack Hudson and defender Max Mehlman garnering Third Team berths.

The three All-Region selections were the most by an Emory team since the 2010 season and Berman's First Team pick marks the first Eagle to land on the Region's First Team since Jason McCartney in 2017.

Berman earns his first career All-Region selection following an outstanding senior campaign in which he played a team-leading 1,716 minutes and was part of the Emory defensive unit that was ranked among the stingiest defenses in the country all season. He started all 18 games, finishing with two goals and was third on the team in total shot attempts (32) and shots on goal (12). Previously this fall he was one of two Eagles to garner All-UAA First Team honors.

Hudson makes his first career All-Region appearance after a standout debut season with the Eagles. He made 17 of a possible 18 starts, posting 65 saves, six shutouts and a .823 save percentage. His first season in blue and gold also saw him finish ranked among the top-10 all-time in Emory single-season records for saves per game (6th, 3.61) and goals against average (8th, 0.75). He was a two-time UAA Athlete of the Week and was named to the All-UAA Second Team last month.

Mehlman represents another first time All-Region honoree following a senior season in which he started all 18 games and was third on the team in minutes played. He, along with his All-Region counterparts, helped the Eagles defense record a total of seven shutouts while limiting opponents to a combined 15 goals and an average of 4.89 shots on goal per game. Mehlman tallied one goal and one assist as well, with both coming in UAA competition against Brandeis and NYU. Earlier this fall, he was a CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team selection and was one of three Eagles to land on the All-UAA Second Team.

Emory earned the team's first postseason berth since 2017 and concluded the year with a 9-4-5 record, the program's 20th consecutive winning season.
