Men's Soccer Rallies Once More; Draws Birmingham-Southern 3-3

For the second time in five days the Emory University men's soccer team erased a two-goal second half deficit, this time drawing Birmingham-Southern College 3-3 on a rainy Tuesday night in Birmingham, AL.

Senior Zach Kornblum and freshman Josh Grand brought the Eagles back from 3-1 down to help Emory remain unbeaten in the early stages of the season at 1-0-2.

Kornblum notched his second goal of the season in the 62nd minute thanks to the assist from junior Alex Mills. Fifteen minutes later at the 76:51 mark, Grand registered his first collegiate score with junior Sebastian Rincon picking up the assist.

The first half got underway with a flurry of goals as the game's first three scores occurred within the opening 20 minutes. BSC got on the board first with a successful penalty kick in the 12th minute before senior Owen Hallauer evened things with an unassisted strike at 15:04. The Panthers added another at 19:44 before the score remained 2-1 for the next 40 minutes.

BSC's Coleman Jennings provided the home squad with the 3-1 edge in the 61st minute but the two-goal lead was short lived as Kornblum responded 49 seconds later to start the Eagles' comeback.

Emory outshot the Panthers 3-2 including two shots on goal over the final 13 minutes but neither side could find the game-winner.

The Eagles will remain on the road this weekend as they travel to Baltimore, MD to face Mary Washington and Johns Hopkins on Saturday and Sunday.
