Culpepper & Weinstein Named to Capital One Academic All-District First Team

Emory University swimmers Anne Culpepper and Paul Weinstein were each named to the Capital One Academic All-District At-Large First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), based on their performances both in the pool and the classroom during the 2010-11 season.

The honor was the first of Culpepper’s career.  Weinstein was named to the Academic all-District Second Team during the 2009-10 season.

Culpepper claimed her second-straight National Title in the 200-yard backstroke, and was part of the Eagles’ winning 400-yard freestyle relay at the 2011 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships.  The junior also claimed all-America honors in the 200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle and 800-yard freestyle relay, giving her 11 for her career.  She is the current school record holder in the 200-yard backstroke, and the 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relays.

Academically, Culpepper has a 3.83 grade point average as an English and Economics major.  She is a two-time UAA academic honoree and CSCAA Scholar All-American.

Weinstein earned all-America honors with a fourth-place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle, the third all-America honor of his career.  He also claimed an all-America honorable mention with a 15th-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle.  At the 2011 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships, the junior claimed the conference championships in both the 1,650 free and 500 free.  The 2009 UAA Rookie of the Year is the school record holder in both the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:19.78) and the 1,650-yard freestyle (15:27.89).

Weinstein has a 3.86 grade point average as a business major.  He has earned CSCAA Scholar all-America and UAA academic honors during his career.
