Emory Swimmers Selected for NCAA D-III Championships

The NCAA released its list of swimmers selected to compete at the 2011 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, announcing 18 members of the Emory women's team and 16 members of the men's squad to the field.

Selections on the women's side for Emory include Jennifer Aronoff, Anne Culpepper, Leslie Hackler, Liz Horvat, Suzanne Lemberg, Taryn Lushinsky, Laura Manor, Courtney McDermott, Amy Minowitz, Katie Mroz, Sadie Nennig, Claire Pavlak, Renee Rosenkranz, Jacqueline Schneider, Whitley Taylor, April Whitley, Ann Wolber and Brooke Woodward.  The 18 selections represent the maximum number of team participants allowed at the NCAA Championships.

The invitees for the Emory men include Patrick Augustyn, Ryan Bass, Mark Bernstein, Jared Dubnow, Darrell Eacret, Justin Leemis, Matt O'Brien, Peter O'Brien, Mackenzie Perry, Sean Ransenberg, Ben Redpath, Ross Spock, Matt Spooner, Richard Upton, and Paul Weinstein.  The first alternate to the meet, Emory's Justin Beegle, will also compete in place of the Eagles' Jeff Simpson, who was invited as part of Emory's 800-yard freestyle relay team.  Emory's Stephen Czaja and Abhijan Khosla were selected as the seventh and eighth alternate, respectively.

Swimmers who are invited in an individual event are allowed to compete in any other individual event, up to the maximum of three.  Those who are selected only as part of a relay are eligible to compete in any event that they have recorded a 'B' cut time in during the year, up to the maximum.

Emory will now await the announcement of the divers slated to compete at the NCAA Championships, scheduled for release on Tuesday.

The NCAA Division III Championships will be held in Knoxville, TN from March 23rd – 26th.  The Emory women will be aiming for their second-consecutive NCAA Championship, while the men will look to improve on their third-place finish last season.
