Prior to Emory:
Competed on the Hinsdale Central High School swimming team for four seasons, serving as the team captain during his senior year... Swam career-best times of 4:37.78 in the 500-yard freestyle, 1:55.65 in the 200-yard backstroke, and 9:40.34 in the 1,000-yard freestyle... Was a state finalist and an all-American in 2008 and 2009... Coached by Harold King and Adam Cremieax in high school.
