Prior to Emory:
Competed on the Brentwood School Swimming and Diving team for two seasons, serving as the team captain during his senior year... Was the first swimmer in his school's history to make the California Interscholastic Federation Masters Meet... Won the CIF Division 4 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relays... Swam career best times of 21.87 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and 48.05 in the 100-yard freestyle... Coached by David Rountree in high school... Also played tennis and water polo in high school.
