Emory University senior Ross Spock and sophomore Ellie Thompson were selected as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Swimmers of the Week, following their standout performances against Georgia Tech on Saturday.

Spock won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 50.40 seconds, good for an NCAA provisional mark.  He also claimed a victory as a part of the Eagles' 400-yard medley relay team, swimming the backstroke leg and helping the squad record a 'B' cut time of 3:22.56.  Spock added a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.41 seconds, and another runner-up finish as a part of the Eagles' 400-yard freestyle relay team, swimming the leadoff leg and helping the team notch a mark of 3:06.39.  Spock accounted for 16.75 of the Eagles' points during the day, as the Emory men fell by a score of 193-95 to the Yellow Jackets.

Thompson recorded times of 57.04 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke and 2:04.24 in the 200-yard backstroke, both good for NCAA provisional qualifying marks and first-place finishes.  She also helped lead the Eagles' 400-yard medley relay team to an event victory, swimming the backstroke leg and guiding the squad to a 'B' cut time of 3:52.71.  Thompson account for 20.75 points during the meet, helping the Eagles outscore their higher-division opponent in swimming events, although the Emory women were edged by the Yellow Jackets in the final score, 159-140.

This was the third conference Athlete of the Week honor of the season for Spock, and the sixth of his career, while Thompson received the honor for the first career time.

Emory will be back in action on Saturday, traveling to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to face off against the Division I University of Alabama at 12:00 PM ET.
