Emory’s Wilson Competes at Summer National Championships

Emory University rising junior Andrew Wilson recently qualified for and competed at the 2014 Phillips 66 Summer National Swimming Championships in Irvine, California, recording top-30 finishes in three different breaststroke events.

Wilson competed in the finals of one of the three events he competed in, placing 14th in the 50-meter breaststroke with a time of 28.60 seconds in the finals, after swimming a time of 28.36 seconds in the preliminaries.  With the 14th-place finish, he earned three points for his team, the Dynamo Swim Club, which finished 13th out of 70 teams at the meet.

Wilson also placed 24th in the preliminaries of the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:15.76 and 26th in the 100-meter breaststroke with a mark of 1:02.59.

Wilson will enter his junior season at Emory with seven all-America certificates during his career, including National Championships as a part of the Eagles' 200-yard medley and 400-yard medley relays in 2014.  The 2013 University Athletic Association (UAA) Rookie of the Year and school-record holder in both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke helped lead Emory to a third-place finish at the 2014 NCAA Division III Championships.

Wilson and the Eagles will open their 2014-15 campaign with the annual Blue-Gold Intrasquad Meet on October 10th at the Woodruff P.E. Center, followed by their first intercollegiate meet at home against UNC – Wilmington on October 18th.
