Andrew Wilson

Emory University junior Andrew Wilson set a pair of NCAA Division III records during the Miami Invitational in Oxford, Ohio last week. On Friday, Wilson set the D-III record in the 100-yard breaststroke, swimming a time of 53.41 seconds to win the finals of the event.  The next day, he won the 200-yard breaststroke with a Division III record time of 1:57.18.  Both marks were also good for pool and meet records, in addition to being automatic qualifying times for the NCAA Championships.  On the first day of the meet, Wilson broke the school and meet records in the 200-yard individual medley with a mark of 1:47.59, good for a ‘B’ cut and a first-place finish.  He was a part of three NCAA provisional qualifying relay efforts as well, swimming the breaststroke leg of the Eagles’ first-place 400-yard medley relay (3:16.70) and second-place 200-yard medley relay (1:30.39), and the third leg of the third-place 800-yard freestyle relay team (6:42.79).  Wilson also finished 37th in the preliminaries of the 50-yard freestyle (21.66 seconds), eighth in the preliminaries of the 100-yard butterfly (50.07 seconds) and ninth as the anchor leg of one of the Eagles’ 400-yard freestyle relay teams (3:06.99).  His performance helped lead the third-ranked Eagles to a fourth-place finish out of six teams at the meet.
