Prior to Emory:

Was a four-year member of the South Mecklenburg High School, serving as the team captain from 2012-13... Named to the All-Region Second Team and All-Conference First Team... Was a three-time team Most Valuable Performer... Recorded career-best times of 1:53.38 in the 200 IM, 4:05.24 in the 400 IM, 4:38.97 in the 500 free, 1:43.29 in the 200 free and 52.17 in the 100 back... Helped his team to a third-place finish at the 2013 state championships, and a conference championship in 2013... Was coached by Leslie Berens in high school... Also swam for the Team Charlotte club team.

Personal:

Born November 11th... Father, Jim, was a track and field and cross country runner at the University of North Carolina, competing at three Olympic Trials... Was a National AP Scholar in 2013.

"I chose Emory because of the close-knit family atmosphere of the swim team and the great academics that are offered.  I immediately felt like I was a part of the swim team.  The idea that I could get a stellar education and swim for a top-notch program was what really drew me to Emory."
