Emory Men's Swimming & Diving Falls at Georgia, 175-107

The Emory University Men's Swimming and Diving team fell to the University of Georgia 175-107 on Saturday afternoon at the Gabrielsen Natatorium inside the Ramsey Center on the campus of UGA. With the defeat, the Eagles closed out the dual meet portion of the season with an overall record of 5-1.

Despite falling to the fourth-ranked Bulldogs, Emory recorded several highlights on the afternoon including two first place finishes and tallying five NCAA qualifying marks.

Senior Andrew Wilson posted one of the event victories, edging out Georgia's James Guest by over a second to take first in the 100 Breast. Wilson touched with one of Emory's NCAA B Cut times, swimming a 54.41. Wilson furthermore registered a NCAA B Cut in the 200 Breast, finishing second at 2:00.64.

The Eagles rounded out the meet with their second event win as sophomore Trey Kolleck and juniors Alexander Hardwick, Aaron Schwartz and Oliver Smith recorded a NCAA B Cut time of 1:22.26 to claim the top spot in the 200 Freestyle Relay. The quartet bested Georgia's 'A' relay of Jay, Mick and Kevin Litherland and Chase Kalisz by .71 seconds.

Smith and freshman Sage Ono added NCAA B Cuts for the Eagles on Saturday. Smith was third in the 50 Free, finishing behind Taylor Dale (20.16) and Chris Powell (20.23) at 20.51. Ono placed third in the 100 Back with a time of 49.44, edged out only by Kalisz (48.83) and Jay Litherland (49.13).

Emory returns to the pool from February 8th through the 11th as the team goes for its 19th consecutive University Athletic Association title at the UAA Championships in Chicago, Illinois.
