Emory University senior Caroline Olson and sophomore Lucas Bumgarner were honored by the University Athletic Association Monday afternoon as the duo collected swimming and diving Athlete of the Week awards for their performances against Birmingham-Southern College this past Saturday.
Olson was one of two Eagles to claim multiple event wins for the Emory women as she took first in both the 100 Butterfly (57.79) and 50 Freestyle (24.42) and was a member of the Eagles' first place 200 Free Relay team (1:39.18). In addition, Olson placed third in the 100 Freestyle at 53.74.
Bumgarner posted a pair of NCAA regional qualifying scores as he was one of three men to record multiple event victories at the meet. Bumgarner set the Emory record in the 1-meter, 6-dives event with his score of 334.20 and added another NCAA Qualifying mark to win the 3-meter event with a score of 357.15.
The Eagles will be off this weekend before hosting the Emory Fall Invitational on November 8th and 9th.
