Junior Chris Goodwin went 2-0 in both singles
and doubles in helping the Eagles to victories in the second and
third rounds of the NCAA Championships. In a 5-0 win over
Grove City, Goodwin teamed with Will Humphreys for an 8-0 win at
No. 1 doubles before posting a 6-1-,6-0 decision over Marc Mentzer
at No. 2 singles. The following day, Goodwin helped Emory to
a 5-0 win over No. 12-ranked North Carolina Wesleyan by winning at
No. 1 doubles and notching a 6-4, 6-2 victory against Alexey
Rumyantsev in singles. Goodwin, who will compete at in the
singles competition at the NCAA Championships, has a 21-3 record at
No. 2 singles this spring and has fashioned a 21-4 won-slate with
Humphreys at No. 1 doubles.
The No. 1-ranked Emory squad will play Middlebury College in the
quarterfinal round of the NCAA Championships on Tuesday, May
24.
