Fresh off helping his team to the national title yesterday, Emory's Dillon Pottish has
advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Singles Championships after winning a pair of matches on Thursday. The Championships are being held in Cary, NC, with Meredith College serving as the host institution.
Pottish, the No. 1 seed in the 32-player field, defeated Oliver Loutsenko of Skidmore College, 6-2, 6-4, in the first round before coming away with a second-round win over Andrew La Cava of Whitman College, 6-4, 6-4. Pottish, now 31-3 on the year, will meet Luis Rattenhuber of Amherst College on Friday starting at 9:00 am. The winner advances to the semifinals which will be played later that day.
Pottish's two victories moved his career record to 94-13 and into the No. 3 spot on Emory's all-time list in wins.
Chris Goodwin, the defending D-III singles championship, was scheduled to compete but withdrew due to injury.
