The No. 1-ranked Emory University men's tennis team will pack its bags and head to Florida to compete in the University Athletic Association Championships.  The competition runs Thursday through Saturday (Apr. 21-23), and will be held at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs.

The Eagles of head coach John Browning, 17-3 (15-0 in D-III) on the year, enter the Championships as the No. 1 seed and will battle No. 8 seed New York University (4-7) at 9:00 a.m. on Thursdar.   The winner of that contest advances to the semifinals on Friday to meet the victor of the No. 4 seed Case Western (18-6) vs. No. 5 seed Carnegie Mellon (14-5) affair.   Other first-round match-ups will see No. 2 seed Chicago take on No. 7 seed Rochester and No. 3 seed Washington University square off against No. 6 seed Brandeis.  The championship match will be held on Saturday beginning at 9:00 am.

Emory has captured 24 of the 28 UAA titles and will be looking to defend its crown after battling to a 5-4 victory over Washington University in the finals last season.

This year's UAA Championships certainly shape up as a competitive event.  Five squads are ranked among the top eight D-III programs nationally including Chicago (#5), Case Western Reserve (#6), Wash U (#7) and Carnegie Mellon (#8).   Brandeis is ranked among the top 25, holding down the No. 23 position.

The Eagles closed out the home portion of its regular-season schedule on Tuesday (Apr. 19) with a 9-0 victory over Washington and Lee University.
