Emory Men's Tennis Places Four Participants At NCAA D-III Singles & Doubles Championships

The Emory men's tennis program will have four competitors in this year's NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships with senior Rafe Mosetick and freshman Jonathan Jemison taking part in singles action, while sophomore Scott Rubinstein and freshman James Spaulding were selected for doubles.  The NCAA D-III Singles and Doubles Championship will be held May 26-28 at Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and will following the team championships, May 23-25.

Mosetick will be making his first appearance in the Singles Championships after narrowly missing a berth last season. The No. 1-ranked player in the Atlantic South Region and No. 2 in the Division III ranks, he has compiled a won-lost record of 24-6, 16-5 in dual competition, with all of those decisions coming at the No. 1 spot.  Earlier in the season, he played his way to All-America recognition after winning the ITA South Region Singles Champion.  Named as the University Athletic Association Most Valuable Player, he is currently is tied for the No. 6 spot on the program's all-time list with 88 wins.

Jemison has enjoyed a fine first season with the program, earning a First Team All-UAA berth and being tabbed as the league's Rookie of the Year. The No. 3-ranked player in the Region and 16th nationally, Jemison paces the team in wins with a 25-4, tying for 12th on the Eagles' seasonal list. He has racked up a 16-2 mark at No. 2 and owns a nine-match win streak heading in the NCAA Tournament.

The tandem of Rubinstein and Spaulding have held down the No. 1 doubles spot in 22 of the team's 23 contests and have compiled a 12-10 won-lost effort. The No. 3-ranked duo in the Region, one of their wins came against Skyler Butts and Daniel Morkovine of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, the top-ranked pair in the West Region.

The No. 1-ranked Eagles, 20-3 on the year, begin the team portion of the NCAA D-III Championships action on Saturday (May 14) when they host either North Carolina Wesleyan or Washington and Lee in second-round action.
