Emory Men's Tennis Battles Kenyon In NCAA D-III Championships Quarterfinals

No. 1-ranked Emory University will take on 17th-ranked Kenyon College in the quarterfinals of the 2015 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships on Monday, May 23, in a scheduled  8:30 am start.  The Championships, hosted by Kalamazoo College, will be held at both Stowe Stadium and the Sorenson Courts in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Emory will enter Monday's match with wins in its last nine outings and an overall record of 22-3 (20-0 in D-III action).   The Eagles advanced to the quarterfinals after hosting the opening rounds this past weekend where they registered 5-0 wins over Washington & Lee and No. 12-ranked Trinity University.

Emory has three singles players slotted among the top 10 in the Atlantic South Region including No. 1  senior Rafe Mosetick, No. 3 freshman Jonathan Jemison and No. 12 junior Aman Manji.   In addition, the Eagles claim the No. 3-ranked doubles team in the Region in sophomore Scott Rubinstein and freshman James Spaulding.

Over the past 26 years the Eagles have advanced to at least the quarterfinals on 24 occasions. Emory has earned a spot in the national semifinals in 10 of the past 14 seasons has won national crowns in 2003, 2006 and 2012.

Kenyon claims a won-lost slate of 14-9 and rolled into the quarterfinals after defeating No. 35 Kalamazoo College (5-1) and host and No. 7-ranked Case Western (5-2) this past weekend.  The Lords have won their last 11 matches.

The winning team will advance to the national semifinals on Tuesday (8:30 am) and clash with the winner of the match between No. 4-ranked Bowdoin and No. 26 Johns Hopkins.  The final will be played on Wednesday at 10:00 am.
