Emory Men's Tennis Well Represented On ITA Awards List

The Emory University men's tennis program saw three of its members capture honors as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

Freshman Jonathan Jemison (Marietta, GA) highlighted the award winners with his selection as the ITA's National Rookie of the Year.  Jemison reached the finals of the ITA South Atlantic Region in both singles and doubles and finished out the year with a singles slate of 27-5 (18-2 at No. 2), with his victory total tying for the team lead and for the No. 7 spot on the school's seasonal ladder.  Jemison was selected to compete in the NCAA D-III Singles Championships, and ended the year as the No. 4 singles player in the Atlantic South Region and 16th  nationally, which enabled him to earn All-America honors.  He and senior Rafe Mosetick united to form a solid doubles team that rolled to an impressive 20-4 ledger, 19-4 at the No. 2 slot. The duo ended up ranked eighth in the region. He is the sixth Emory player to garner the National Rookie of the Year honor.

Rafe Mosetick (Hinsdale, IL) brought home the Atlantic South Region Senior Player of the Year award after registering an overall singles record of 27-8, 17-6 during the spring portion of the schedule where he held down the No. 1 spot in the lineup.  Mosetick earned All-America honors in singles during the fall following his title performance at the ITA Atlantic South Region Championships and in the spring by virtue of his No. 3 seed, as well as a pair of wins at the NCAA D-III Singles Championships.  He finished his Emory career with a singles mark of 91-29, with his victory total tying for the No. 5 spot on the program's all-time list.  In doubles, Mosetick and freshman Jonathan Jemison were a dynamic team with the tandem registering an overall record of 20-4.  In the final ITA rankings, Mosetick was the No. 1-ranked singles player in the region and sixth nationally.

Aman Manji (Sammamish, WA) was the recipient of two honors – the Atlantic South Region "Player To Watch" and the ITA/Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award.  The "Player To Watch" recognition goes annually to one of the top-ranked returning regional players next year who has not yet won an ITA Regional championship or any other ITA National Event.  Manji bolstered the squad's singles lineup this year, posting a 20-6 record, 17-4 during the spring portion of the schedule, which included a ledger of 16-3 at No. 3.  A rising senior, Manji ended the year as the No. 12-ranked singles player in the region and 38th nationally.

In addition, the Emory doubles team of Scott Rubinstein and James Spaulding wound up the season with a No. 3 ranking in the Atlantic South Region and a No. 6 spot nationally.

Emory totaled a won-lost mark 23-4 and was ranked No. 2 nationally.  The Eagles advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Championships.
