The Emory men's tennis team fared well on the opening day of the Grizzly Open, placing four singles players in the quarterfinals of the Main Draw while three doubles teams will playing in the Round of 16. Hosting the Grizzly Open is Georgia Gwinnett College.

Senior Andrew Harrington won his two first singles encounters, topping Ryan James of Belmont Abbey, 6-1, 6-4, and Emmanuel College's Tom Jarry, 6-2, 6-2. Harrington will battle senior teammate Alec Josepher in Saturday's quarters after Josepher advanced following his wins against Juan Carols Romero of Emmanuel, 6-4, 6-1 and Satoshi Yamada of Bluefield College, 0-6, 6-3, 1-0 (4).  A pair of Emory freshmen will match-up in the quarters, with Hayden Cassone and Alec Rabinowitz each winning twice.  Cassone toppled Noah Johansen, 6-1, 6-3, in the first round before posting a 6-4, 6-2, triumph over Urs Widow of Souterhn Wesleyan.  Rabinowitz bettered Eduardo Munoz of Tusculum, 6-1, 7-5, and No. 2 seed Federico Barbon from Point College, 6-2, 6-3.

In doubles, the top-seeded duo of Scott Rubinstein and James Spaulding drew a bye into the Round of 16 and will square off against Emmanuel College's Romero and Enrique Alcacer. Emory doubles teams who won their opening bouts included sophomore George Congdon and Rabinowitz and senior David Omsky and Cassone.
