The No. 1-ranked Emory University men's tennis team faces a pair of formidable challenges when it clashes with two of the top-10 ranked Division III programs. On Friday (Apr. 20), the Eagles play at No. 7 Amherst in a 3:00 pm start before matching-up against No. 6 Middlebury the following afternoon on the campus of Trinity College (Conn.).
Emory starts the weekend with a won-lost slate of 13-2 and has won its last six matches. Most recently, the Eagles hosted and defeated No. 20 Sewanee (8-1) and Washington and Lee (8-1) this past weekend.
The Mammoths of Amherst will entertain Emory with a mark of 9-2. Amherst has won its last two matches and is coming off a 6-3 victory over MIT on Apr. 13.
Middlebury has gotten off to a strong start with wins in 14 of 17 decisions. The Panthers have captured their last four matches and turned in strong performances against Colby-Sawyer (9-0) and Skidmore (8-1) last weekend. Prior to the afternoon showdown against Emory, Middlebury will play Trinity in a 9:00 am match.
