Emory Men's Tennis Opens Season At Sewanee

The Emory University men's tennis team opens its season on Saturday (Mar. 20) with a pair of matches at the University of the South. The opening match against the Tigers is slated for an 11:00 am (EDT) start with the second affair scheduled to commence at 3:00 pm.

Head Coach John Browning has a strong corps of veterans making the trip to Sewanee including senior Hayden Cassone, a three-time All-American in singles.  Cassone has logged 46 wins in singles competition during his career while his 55 triumphs in doubles ranks 28th all-time in program history. Junior Antonio Mora earned All-America acclaim in both singles and doubles during the shortened 2019-20 campaign including a title performance at the ITA South Region Championships.  The owner of a career singles ledger of 33-6, his .846 winning percentage slots him third all-time in program annals.  Junior Andrew Esses is another battle-tested performer, playing his way to All-University Athletic Association acclaim in both singles and doubles last season.  Esses also finds himself among the school's all-time top 10 in singles winning percentage, holding down the No. 6 spot (.809, 34-8).  Also returning are senior Will Wanner, a two-time All-American in doubles, and fifth-year senior Hassan Kenawi.
