Men's Tennis Falls in UAA Semifinals to Case Western Reserve

The Emory University men's tennis team fell in the semifinals of the UAA Championships to Case Western Reserve on Friday afternoon at the Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, FL.

The No. 4 seeded Eagles faced defeat at the hands of the first overall seed and No. 1 ranked team in the nation Spartans and will now play No. 3 seed WashU in the third-place match Saturday morning at 8:30 AM. The Bears fell in their semifinal match 5-3 to No. 2 seed Chicago who will now face off against the Spartans in the championship match tomorrow.

The Eagles doubles teams couldn't overcome the Spartans' powerful showing, dropping all three matches. The No.1 doubles team of senior Andrew Esses and sophomore Nolan Shah fell 8-3 in their opening match. The Eagles other two doubles teams, the first line consisting of senior Antonio Mora and junior Samuel Dean while the other was made up by senior Sahil Raina and sophomore Ryan Glanville, were both defeated 8-5.

The match was wrapped up quickly in singles with No. 1 seeded Mora being the first to fall, dropping his match 6-3, 6-1 with No. 3 seed Shah losing his match shortly afterwards 6-2, 6-1 to give the Spartans the 5-0 overall match victory.
