Emory Men's Tennis Downs Kenyon at Tiger Den Invitational

The No. 10 ranked Emory University men's tennis team concluded a strong weekend at the Tiger Den Invitational on Saturday, earning a 7-2 decision over No. 20 ranked Kenyon College at Sewanee.

For the second straight match the Eagles came out the gates strong, sweeping doubles action against the Owls. At court one, the Andrew Esses and Nolan Shah tandem picked up a narrow 8-6 win while the Ryan Glanville and Charlie James pairing on court two doubled up their Kenyon counterparts, 8-4. Samuel Dean and Dean Kamenev rounded out the Emory wins, earning a tiebreak win on three, 8-7 (5).

 In singles, the Eagles secured wins at the top four positions with all wins coming by straight sets. Esses claimed a 6-2, 6-4 on the one line with doubles partner Shah posting a 7-5, 6-3 decision at the second spot. In third singles, Kamenev was a 6-1, 7-6 (5) winner while James rounded out the Emory winners with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph on court four.

The Eagles will take their 2-0 spring record with them into the home opener Tuesday afternoon when they host NAIA Tennessee Wesleyan at 2:00 pm on the WoodPEC indoor courts.
