Eagles Wrap-Up Indoor Regular Season at Pointers Qualifier

The Emory University Track and Field Team competed in its final meet before the 2015 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, sending a contingent of athletes to the Pointers NCAA Qualifier in Stevens Point, Wisconsin on Saturday.

For the women, junior Julie Williamson recorded a time of 2:15.76 in the 800-meter run, her second-fastest time of the season and good for a fifth-place finish.  Freshman Caitlin Cheeseboro added a time of 9.50 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, while senior Katie Wilson cleared the bar at 1.54 meters in the high jump to finish 10th.

Individually for the Emory men, freshman Benjamin Rogin finished 10th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.50 seconds.  The Eagles also had a pair of relays in action, with the distance medley relay team of freshman Jordan Flowers, junior Adam Rabushka, freshman Max Brown and sophomore Grant Murphy placing third with a time of 10:11.54, while the 4x400-meter relay team of junior Spencer Koh, junior Adam Rabushka, junior Maxwell Hoberman and freshman Daniel Pietsch claimed 13th with a time of 3:28.41.

With the final meet prior to the NCAA Championships now in the books, the Eagles will await the release of the list participants for the meet, with the top-15 men, top-17 women and top-12 relays in each event (based on times recording during the year) receiving a spot in the meet.

Emory currently has a pair of candidates who appear to be in strong contention for spots in the field.  Senior Electra Korn is currently ranked fourth in Division III in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.33 seconds and 17th in Division III with a seed time of 25.57 seconds.  Hoberman is currently ranked 11th in the triple jump with a mark of 14.49 meters.

The NCAA will post the list of athletes selected to compete at the meet to NCAA.com by 9:00 am on Monday, March 9th.  The NCAA Division III Championships will be held on Friday, March 13th and Saturday, March 14th at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
