Men's Track & Field Competes at UAB Spring Invitational

The Emory University men's track and field team continued its outdoor season this weekend with the UAB Spring Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama. The Eagles placed 8th as a team with 23 points.

Emory was one of 18 schools to compete at the meet, along with Alabama State, Samford, West Alabama, Jacksonville State, Tuskegee, ETSU, Point University, Alabama A&M, UAG, Lipscomb, Montevallo, Birmingham-Southern, Auburn-Montgomery, Hope College, Tulane, Chattanooga, Arkansas State and host UAB.

Spencer Moore and Zach Barry led the short slate Friday afternoon to kick off the meet for the Eagles, recording under four-minute times in the 1500m Run. Moore paced the team with his 3:57.72 with Barry running a time of 3:59.78.

On Saturday, the Eagles saw numerous season-best times turned in from Grant Thompson in the 5000m Run (15:39.76), Graham Scott in both the 110m Hurdles (16.84) and 400m Hurdles (59.47), Thomas Davis in the 100m Dash (11.15), Spencer Watry in the 800m Run (1:56.03) and Kenya Sei in the discus (36.14m).

Other top finishes from day two included Sei in the hammer throw (42.51m), Connor Sweeney and Logan Chen in the long jump (5.80m), Justin Pecore in the 400m Dash (55.98), Davis in the 200m Dash and the 4x400m Relay team of Davis, Watry, Thomas Perretta and Scott Masterson (3:26.78).

Emory is scheduled to compete in a pair of meets next weekend with the Flames Invitational at Lee University and the Berry Field Day Invitational.
