The Emory University indoor track & field team competed in their first meet of the new year as they played host to the Emory CrossPlex Showdown that took place in Birmingham, AL on Sunday.
The women's team placed first of the 18 teams competing, tallying a whopping 174 points while Montevallo took the silver medalist position with 102 points and Clayton State (64 points) finished with bronze. The men's team finished in second place as they put up 92.5 points trailing just behind Montevallo (99.5 points).

Sophomore Jackson Price continued his impressive run as an Eagle setting another program record this time in the 200m dash where he ran a time of 21.99 seconds to beat the previous program record set by Alex Greenhouse in 2010 by .02 seconds.
Elsewhere on the track for the men, senior Spencer Moore won the 3,000m run with a time of 8:31.21 which marked a new personal best and the fifth best time in program history. Finishing just behind Moore, junior Tristan Olpin finished in second in the 3,000m run recording a time of 8:41.51. Competing in the 4x400 relay the team of junior Dawit Dean, sophomore Chris Belz, sophomore Tristan Moore and senior Thomas Davis placed first after crossing the finish line in a time of 3:23.88.
On the field for the men, junior Kenya Sei notched a third place finish in the weight throw after recording a distance of 14.89m which also stands as the eighth farthest distance in Eagles history. Freshman Henry Brandstadter also recorded a win for the Eagles in the high jump as he hit a distance of 2.00m. Freshman Denny Fisher had a solid second collegiate meet as he placed fourth in the pole vault after reaching a height of 4.15m.
On the field for the women, graduate student Nyjah Willis continued her impressive run in an Eagles uniform placing first in the weight throw with a distance of 16.17m and landing on the program leaderboards again as her distance is the second farthest in Eagles history. Elsewhere on the field, freshman Selah Eum and junior Clementine Bodus finished back-to-back in the long jump recording distances of 4.76m and 4.71m, respectively. Sophomore Caroline Hansen had a solid day placing second in the triple jump with a distance of 10.63m.
After qualifying for the final with a nice run in the preliminaries, Bodus placed first in the 60m hurdle final registering a time of 9.11 seconds. The 4x400 relay team consisting of junior Libby Ranocha, senior Claire Evans, sophomore Kaya Binetti and sophomore Paige Murdock won their race after crossing the finish line in a time of 4:04.73. Ranocha and sophomore Dashiel Tao Harris registered nice days in the 400m dash placing second and third with times of 58.18 and 59.16 seconds, respectively. Competing in the shorter distances, sophomore Audrey Johnson registered a second place finish in the 200m dash after completing the race in 25.92 seconds.
The Eagles are back in action next weekend for the Carolina Challenge in Columbus, SC on Friday and Saturday.
