Indoor Track & Field Team Close South Carolina Invitational with Another Program Record

The Emory University indoor track & field team closed out the South Carolina Invitational in Columbia, SC on Saturday with another strong set of performances throughout the day.

The men's DMR team of junior Spencer Watry, freshman Bryce Wurster, sophomore Marcus Cheema and senior Spencer Moore established a new program record with a time of 9:57.31 marking the fourth program record set this weekend. The relay team's time of 9:57.31 marks the first time an Eagles relay team has gone below 10:00 in the event and stands as the third fastest time in Division III this season.

Elsewhere on the track for the men, senior Tommy Davis, competing in the 200m dash, ran for a time of 22.33 seconds which is the seventh best mark in program history. Sophomore Chris Belz had an outstanding day as he registered a time of 1:53.86 in the 800m run which is the eighth best time in Eagles history.

On the track for the women, junior Libby Ranocha had one of the strongest days of her Eagles career as she recorded a time of 2:14.15 in the 800m run which is the fifth fastest time in program history. Ranocha's time also has her in nationals contention as it stands as the fifth fastest time in Division III this season according to TFRRS.

Also competing on the track for the women, sophomore Audrey Johnson notched the best day in the 200m for an Eagle this season as she crossed the finish line in a time of 25.79 seconds.

Sophomore Paige Thielke had a solid day in the high jump for the women's team as she reached a height of 1.50m to place seventh at the meet. Sophomore Geoff Point-du-Jour had a solid showing in the high jump for the men as he reached a height of 1.85m which was good for sixth in the event at the meet.

The Eagles are back in action next weekend as they will go split squad sending half of their team to Boston, MA for the BU Hemery Valentine meet while the other half of the team will travel across state lines for the Bulldog Open in Birmingham, AL.
