Track & Field Shines on Final Day of Lee Flames Invitational

The Emory University track & field team shined on the final day of the Lee Flames Invitational as multiple athletes recorded nationally ranked performances in Cleveland, Tennessee.

For the men, senior Spencer Moore registered the third fastest time in program history in the 3,000m steeplechase as he logged a time of 9:06.53, which also stands as the fourth fastest time in Division III this season. Junior Dawit Dean registered a top-20 national time in the 800m run as he placed second with a time of 1:53.37, the 19th best mark this season. Junior Spencer Watry also competed in the 800m run placing fourth after posting a time of 1:54.33. Freshman Henry Brandstadter returned to the field and recorded a second place finish in the high jump after hitting a height of 6.88m. 

For the women, junior Libby Ranocha notched a top ten time in program history in the 800m run as she crossed the finish line in 2:12.57. Ranocha's time is both the seventh best in program history and the seventh best time in Division III this season. Junior Clementine Bodus landed on the podium, placing third in the 100m hurdles as she registered a time of 14.58 seconds, the 17th best mark in the nation. Sophomore Dashiel Tao Harris showed out in the 400m dash, turning in a time of 58.74 seconds which is the 31st best time in the nation.

The Eagles showed out in both relay competitions as the recorded top two finishes in both events. In the 4x100 relay the team of sophomore Maura Dianno, junior Ella Lavelle, sophomore Kaya Binetti and sophomore Audrey Johnson logged the 12th fastest time in Division III crossing the finish line in 48.14 seconds, finishing in second place at the meet. The 4x400 relay team of Johnson, sophomore Paige Murdock, Binetti and Ranocha won the event with a time of 3:58.79, the ninth best time in Division III.

The Eagles are back in action next weekend as they travel upstate for the Berry Field Day Invitational in Rome, Georgia on Friday and Saturday.
