More Program Records Fall at Lee Last Chance Meet

Two more school records fell Saturday evening as the Emory University track and field teams marched towards the NCAA Championships with the Lee Last Chance meet in Cleveland, Tennessee.

After the Eagles established three new school records at the Life University Last Chance meet last Friday, a pair of records were broken in the 1500m Run in the second-to-last final qualifier of the outdoor season.

Junior Spencer Watry eclipsed an eight-year record with his time of 3:50.62, breaking Grant Murphy's previous top time of 3:50.91 set nearly to the day in 2015. In the women's race, senior Annika Urban continued to etch her name into Division III lore, shaving seven seconds off her time to post a winning time of 4:19.43. She is the first woman at the DIII level to go under 4:25 this season and now stands seventh all-time in Division III history.

To go along with the two records falling, the Eagles saw two more season-best times turned in from sophomore Dashiel Tao Harris in the 400m Dash (56.63) and junior Dawit Dean in the 400m Dash (48.16). Additionally, sophomore Kaya Binetti had a season-best time of her own in the 200m Dash at 25.64.

The Eagles will host the Emory Final Qualifier on Wednesday before NCAA selections are announced this Friday, May 18.
