Track and Field Turn in Stellar Performance at Sewanee Indoor Meet

The Emory University track and field team sent select athletes to the Sewanee Indoor Meet on Saturday afternoon with the field group highlighting the day.

Starting on the track for the men was freshman Olivier Jawornicki taking a 24th place finish in the 55m prelims with a time of 6.95. Fellow freshman Theodore Drye had another standout day finishing third in the 400m running a 52.57 followed by teammates Ian Allam and Jack Tsai taking seventh and tenth respectively.

Freshman Evan Tuckley started strong on the field side of things taking a first place finish in the pole vault with a height of 3.95m. Rookie Rohan Vasandani finished 11th in the shot put with a distance of 11.13m followed by a 10.16m distance from Jawornicki for a 19th place finish. Vasandani finished things for the men with an eighth place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 10.54m.

Junior Maura Dianno competed as the lone runner for the women competing in the 55m. She took a sixth place finish in prelims with a 7.52 mark followed by an eighth place finish in the finals running a 7.53.

Juniors Alex Feurer and Sammy Ramacher started things off on the field in the pole vault finishing first and second respectively with a 3.06m mark from Feurer and a 2.61m height from Ramacher. Freshman Linda Wang saw a third place finish in the long jump with a distance of 5.06m. Dianno and freshman Dijaye Carpenter followed with an eighth and tenth place finish respectively. 

Junior Sarah Fineman had an impressive day taking a second place finish in the shot put with a distance of 11.01m followed by a 9.83m mark in the weight throw from junior Alexa Kondas good for a seventh place finish.

Next up for the Eagles is the UAA Championships that will start on Saturday, February 24 in New York, New York.
