Indoor NCAA Selections Announced for Track and Field

The Emory University track and field program saw 14 student-athletes selected to compete at the upcoming NCAA Indoor Championships March 8-9 at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Six athletes were chosen on the men's side to compete including two individuals. For the women, eight Eagles were selected to represent the Blue and Gold.

Senior Libby Ranocha will be the lone Eagle competing in the 800m as she'll be seeded ninth in the event with a time of 2:11.18. She set the time at the UAA Championships earlier this season breaking the program record she previously set in February at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational. Competing with her in the individual events is graduate student Brigid Hanley who will be competing in the 3000m as the eighth seed at 9:36.88. After competing at the South Region Final Qualifier this past weekend, junior Audrey Johnson qualified for the 200m with a 20th seed at 25.11.

Rounding out the track events is the distance medley relay group of Hanley, senior Lily Taylor, junior Dashiel Tao Harris and Madison Tiaffay seeded seventh with a time of 11:39.06.

On the field side of things, junior Caroline Hansen will be competing in the triple jump being seeded at No. 11 with a distance of 11.87m while graduate student Nikki Boon will compete in the Pentathlon. She is seeded second in the event with 3697 points after breaking the program record at the Ohio-Wesleyan University Open earlier this season.

Sophomore Henry Brandstadter leads the way for the men being seeded third in the long jump with a distance of 7.47m. The distance was set at the UAA Indoor Championships and broke both the program and the UAA records. Senior Kenya Sei rounds out the field events for the men qualifying for the weight throw seeded 18th with his program record 18.49m mark also set at the UAA Indoor Championships.

Seniors Dawit Dean and Spencer Watry, junior Marcus Cheema and freshman Graham Greene will all be competing in the distance medley relay being seeded 11th with a time of 9:45.90.

The NCAA Championships are set to get underway on Friday with the first event of the women's pentathlon starting at 10:20 AM, men's long jump prelims and finals at 2:30 PM, prelims of the women's 800m at 3:45 PM, prelims of the women's 200m at 4:15 PM and the finals of the distance medley relay at 6:15 PM (W) and 6:30 PM (M). Saturday will feature the prelims and finals of the women's triple jump (2:30 PM) and the women's 3000m final (5:40 PM). Other final events, should the Eagles advance, will take place during the afternoon on Saturday.
