2005-06 Emory Men's Cross Country Headline Archives

(Nov. 12) - EAGLES FINISH THIRD AT NCAA SOUTH REGIONAL
The Emory men's cross country team finished third at the NCAA South Regional to conclude the 2005 season. For the meet Emory finished with 120 points and an average time of 26:18.8.

Freshman Vikram Srivastava led the way for the blue and gold in 15th place after crossing the finish line in a time of 26:01.7. Junior Kile Krol was second for Emory in 19th place and a time of 26:08.4.

Freshman Isaac Zimmerman and sophomore Bryan Forsyth finished 20th and 32nd, respectively. Zimmerman had a time of 26:10.4, while Forsyth finished at 26:33.0. Sophomore John Devlin finished 34th with a time of 26:40.1 to round out the top five.

Sophomore Jeff Roland and junior Rob Leventhal also competed with Roland finishing 42nd at 26:53.4 and Leventhal finishing 46th at 26:59.6.

Emory concludes the season with two team victories at the Vanderbilt Invitational and Georgia State Invitational.


(Oct. 29) - EMORY FINISHES SEVENTH AT UAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Emory's men's cross country team finished seventh out of eight teams at the UAA Championship meet with a total of 193 points.

Freshman Vikram Srivastava led the Eagles with a 26th place finish out of 78 runners and a time of 26:34.4. Srivastava is the first freshman to lead the team at the UAA meet since 1996. He was followed by fellow freshman Issac Zimmerman who finished in 32nd place with a time of 26:44.4.

Other top five runners for Emory were sophomore Bryan Forsyth in 43rd place with a time of 27:03.4, junior Kile Krol finishing in 48th place with a time of 27:11.0, and Rob Leventhal coming in 52nd place with a time of 27:14.3.

The Eagles will take a week off before running in the NCAA South/Southeast Regionals in Conway, Ark., Saturday, Nov. 12. The team has won six consecutive NCAA regional titles.


(Oct. 15) - EMORY WINS GEORGIA STATE INVITATIONAL
Emory's men's cross country team claimed its second victory of the season by winning the Georgia State Invitational with a total of 32 points.

Leading the way for the Eagles was sophomore Bryan Forsyth in third with a time of 26:14.15. This marked Forsyth's third top 10 finish of the year and his second-best finish. Finishing second among Emory was freshman Vikram Srivastava in fifth with a time of 26:39.30. His fifth-place finish marked a career best in his young career.

Junior Rob Leventhal was next in seventh with a time of 26:49.63, while junior Kile Krol and freshman Isaac Zimmerman were eighth and ninth, respectively, to round out the scorers. Krol finished in a time of 26:55.14 and Zimmerman crossed at 27:00.66. The finishes for Leventhal, Krol and Zimmerman were each personal bests.

Up next for Emory are the UAA Championships in Pittsburgh, Pa., Saturday, Oct. 29.


(Oct. 8) - EAGLES FINISH 17TH AT AUBURN INVITATIONAL
The Emory men's cross country team finished 17th at Auburn Invitational. The Eagles, who were competing against mainly Division I schools, finished with 445 points.

Junior Rob Leventhal led the EU contingent in 73rd after crossing the finish line in a time of 25:42.61. Sophomore Bryan Forsyth was next in 75th with a time of 25:43.28, while junior Kyle Krol was two spots by in 77th in a time of 25:44.78.

Freshman Vikram Srivastava was next for Emory in 128th with a time of 26:33.92. Freshman Isaac Zimmerman and sophmore Jeff Roland finished 132nd and 133rd, respectively. Zimmerman crossed at 26:36.52, while Roland reached the finish line at 26:36.96. Rounding out the scorers for Emory was sophomore John Devlin in 145th and a time of 26:53.08.

Up next for Emory is the Georgia State Invitational, Oct. 15, in Atlanta.


(Oct. 1) - EMORY FINISHES 10TH AT GEORGIA COLLEGIATE
Emory's men's cross country team finished 10th at the Georgia Collegiate in Macon, Ga., with a total of 267 points.

Evan Goldberg finished 40th in a time of 27:45 to lead the Eagle contingent. Luke Wetzel was next in 46th with a 27:53, while Robert Swerlick was 56th with a 28:15.

Finishing 74th and 75th, respectively were James LaChance and Michael Bowman. LaChance crossed the finish line at 29:03, and Bowman was across at 29:04.

Rounding out the Emory competitors were John Washington in 77th with a 29:08, Zack Reinstein in 79th with a 29:17 and Colin Waterson in 115th with a 31:09.

Emory takes the week off before traveling to Auburn, Ala., for the Auburn Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 8.


(Sept. 24) -  EAGLES FINISH 11TH AT GREAT AMERICAN CROSS COUNTRY RACE
The Emory men's cross country team finished 11th at the Great American Cross Country Race in Cary, N.C., on Saturday. The team finished with a total time of 2:14:02.40 and 298 points.

Bryan Forsyth once again led the Emory contingent, finishing 49th and turning in a time of 26:22.20. Finishing second to him was Kile Krol in 63rd with a 26:39.50.

Finishing 74th and 81st, respectively were Jeff Roland and Isaac Zimmerman. Roland crossed the finish line in a time of 26:48.00, while Zimmerman was 27:01.20. Rounding out the Emory scorers were Vikram Srivastava in 86th with a 27:11.50, Rob Leventhal in 92nd with a 27:24.80 and John Devlin in 101st with a 27:37.70.

Emory returns to competition Oct. 8 at the Auburn Invitational in Auburn, Ala.


(Sept. 17) - EMORY WINS VANDERBILT INVITATIONAL
Emory University finished first out of six teams at the Vanderbilt Invitational, beating four NCAA Division I schools including host Vanderbilt University. The Eagles finished with 32 points and an average time of 26:02.42.

Sophomore Bryan Forsyth led the Eagles, finishing second out of 78 runners with a career-best time of 25:42.77. He was followed closely by teammates Rob Leventhal in fifth with a time of 25:54.93 and Kile Krol in sixth place with a time of 25:56.10.

Jeff Roland finished in eighth with a time of 26:09.19 and Isaac Zimmerman rounded out the top five for Emory in 14th place with a time of 26:29.10. All of Emory's top five runners ran career-best times.

The Eagles return to action next Saturday at the Great American Cross Country Festival in Cary, NC.


(Sept. 3) - MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY FINISHES TIED FOR THIRD AT SEWANEE INVITATIONAL
The Emory men's cross country team finished tied for third at the Sewanee Invitational. The Eagles concluded the meet with 101 points and an average time of 27:56.61, tying them with Birmingham Southern.

Leading the way for the Eagles was sophomore Bryan Forsyth in eighth place with a time of 27:13.28. Junior Rob Leventhal crossed the finsh line in 12th place with a time of 28:28.69, while freshman Vikram Srivastava recorded a time of 27:59.17 to finish 21st.

Sophomore Jeff Roland and freshman Issac Zimmerman rounded out the scoring for Emory in 31st and 33rd place, respectively. Roland ran the race in a time of 28:27.00 and Zimmerman finished with a 28:34.27.

The men will join the women next Saturday in Nashville, Tenn., for the Vanderbilt Invitational.
