2007 Athletes Of The Week

(Nov. 12) -- Vikram Srivastava came through with an outstanding performance at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional last weekend in helping the Eagles to a co-championship performance, the first time since 2004 that it came in the top spot.

Srivastava was the top Emory contestant and crossed the finish line in seventh place out of 170 runners with an 8K time of 26:18. Emory tied with Rhodes College for the No. 1 spot with 76 points and enabled the Eagles to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.


(Oct. 29) -- Emory University sophomore Paul Winterhalter paced the Eagles'' effort at the UAA Championships, finishing as the squad's top performer with a career-best 8K time of 25:50, good for 11th place overall in the 78-runner field. His performance enabled him to claim second team All-UAA honors and aided in Emory's fourth-place finish at the Championships, the program's best effort since the 2002 season.

It also represented the second time this season that the Ardmore, Penn., native ranked as the Eagles' No. 1 runner in a meet.


(Oct. 15) -- Emory University sophomore Alex Robin paced the Eagles' effort at the Tiger Twilight Invitational last Friday. Robin covered the 8K course in a time of 28:39.3 and finished seventh overall in the 34-runner field.


(Oct. 7) -- Emory University senior Mike Rothbart enjoyed a fine a showing at the Pre-Nationals this past weekend and helped the Eagles to a second-place tie out of 15 teams. Rothbart was the No. 1 Emory runner and crossed the line in 19th place overall out of 174 entrants with an 8K time of 28:02.3. Rothbart has competed in three meets this fall and has ranked the team's top runner in each outing.


(Sept. 24) -- Emory University sophomore Paul Winterhalter led a solid showing by the Eagles at the Bulldog Stampede and helped the squad to a fourth-place finish out of 10 squads. Winterhalter was the first Emory runner to cross the line and ranked 27th out of 91 runners covering the 8K course in a time of 26:53.9. It marked the first time in his short career that he ranked as Emory's No. 1 runner in a competition.


(Sept. 16) -- Senior Michael Rothbart came through with another solid effort in helping the Eagles to a seventh-place finish out of 18 teams at the Georgia State Invitational. Michael paced all Emory runners and finished 11th out of 172 runners in the 8K event, recording a time of 27:35.2. Rothbart's performance represented his second consecutive first-place effort among the Eagles' contingent this season. After two meets, he has registered an impressive won-lost record of 314-17.


(Sept. 3) -- Senior Michael Rothbart turned in a solid performance at the University of the South Invitational, helping the Eagles to a second-place finish out of 17 teams. Michael paced the Emory contingent of runners and posted an eighth-place finish overall out of 161 competitors with an 8K time of 27:12.93.
