Emory University senior Tommy Fyffe
(Cincinnati, OH) has been named the University Athletic Association
Co-Cross Country Athlete of the Week following his performance at
the Jacksonville State Foothills Invitational last weekend.
Fyffe shares the honor with Paul Norton of Brandeis University. It
marks the second time this year and third in his career at Emory
that he has earned the honor.
Fyffe helped the Eagles to a first-place finish out of seven teams
at the Invitational by pacing the 74-runner field with a personal
best 8K time of 24:34. Fyffe's effort not only was the top
mark in the race but also represented the second-fastest time on
record in school history. It marked the second time this
season that he had claimed the top spot in a race as he finished
first out of 123 entries at the season-opening Sewanee
Invitational.
The 12th-ranked Eagles return to action on October 17
when they compete at the Quaker Invitational in Greensboro, North
Carolina.
