The Emory University men's cross country team turned in a strong
finish at the 29th annual Sewanee Invitational today, posting a
second-place finish out of 11 teams.
The Eagles finished with 50 points and finished runner-up to
Mississippi State's 24 points. Rounding out the top five team
finishers were Georgia State (113 pts.), Rhodes College (136 pts.)
and Centre College (145 pts.).
Senior Tommy Fyffe (Cincinnati, OH) highlighted Emory's effort by
capturing first place in 123-runner field with an 8K time of
25:36. All totaled, the Eagles had three of the top eight
finishers including senior Charlie Meade (Wellesley, MA) who
crossed the finish line in third place (25:59.5) and senior Paul
Winterhalter (Ardmore, PA) who claimed eighth place with an effort
of 26:23. Senior Alex Robin (Evanston, IL) clocked in at
27:21, good for 17th position, and rounding out the
team's scorers was senior Greg Decker with a time of 27:36 that
placed him 24th.
Emory returns to action on Sept. 19 when it takes part in the UGA
Invitational.
