Fresh off a strong performance at the Greater Louisville Classic
last weekend, the Emory men’s and women cross country teams
return to action when they compete at the 5th Annual
Jacksonville State University Foothills Invitational.
The Oxford Lake & Recreation Center in Oxford, Alabama, will
serve as the site of the meet with the women’s 5k race
starting at 10:00 a.m., and the men’s 8k competition at 10:45
a.m.
In addition to Emory, some of the other teams comprising this
year’s field include Clayton State, West Alabama, Alabama
A&M, host Jacksonville State and Tuskegee University.
The women’s side, ranked No. 1 in the Southeast Region and
No. 34 nationally among Division III teams, are coming of a
second-place finish out of 34 teams at the Greater Louisville
Classic. Senior Natalie Fenn and Sara Gelb highlighted the
squad’s effort, crossing the finish line in 16th
and 24th place, respectively, in the 287-runner
field.
The men’s team, ranked fourth in the Southeast Region,
claimed 24th place in a talented field at the Louisville
Classic. The Eagles’ top finishers in that 8k race were
sophomore Stephen Ellwood, who finished 86th out of 328
entries and junior Geraint Davies, who concluded the event in
110th position.
