The Emory University men's cross country team recorded an
11th-place finish out of 23 teams at the Royal Cross
Country Challenge Friday afternoon. The 8k meet was held at
McAlpine Park in Charlotte, NC, and hosted by Queens College.
The Eagles finished the competition with 314 points. Taking
home the top spot was Queens College with 66 points.
UNC-Greensboro was runner-up with 74 points while Georgia Tech was
third at 81 points.
Sophomore Stephen Ellwood came through with the Eagles’ best
effort, covering the course in a time of 25:47.4, good for
46th place overall out of 202 entries. Junior Tim
Halinski was the second Emory harrier to cross the finish line with
his showing of 26:18.9 placing him 69th. Junior
Geraint Davies clocked in at 26:29.7, ranking 79th in
the field, while seniors Kevin Lanza (26:03, 83rd) and
Jon Usry (26:34, 89th) rounded out the team’s
scorers.
Emory returns to action on Oct. 30 when it races at the University
Athletic Association Championships in New York.
