The Emory University men's and women's cross country teams
will take part in the 30th annual Sewanee Invitational on Saturday
(Sept. 4). The women's 6K competition begins at 10:00 a.m. while
the men's 8k race is slated to start at 11:00 a.m. The
Invitational will be held at the Sewanee Golf Course.
Along with Emory, some of the other teams scheduled to compete
include Birmingham Southern, Bryan, Centre, Covenant, Lee,
Maryville, defending champion Mississippi State, Georgia State,
Austin Peay State University, Rhodes and Tennessee Tech, Tennessee
Wesleyan, North Alabama and host Sewanee.
Last year, the Emory men's side posted a second-place finish,
trailing only Division I member Mississippi State, while the
women’s team recorded a third-place effort.
Heading into the weekend, the Emory men's squad is ranked
34th in the nation among Division III teams in the
latest USTFCCCA Poll while the women are ranked
35th.
