The Emory men's and women's cross country teams participated in the 24th Annual University Athletic Association Championships on Saturday.  The Championships were held at Van Cortland Park in New York.

The women's side, ranked 26th nationally, recorded a fifth-place finish with 105 points.  Capturing the top spot was No. 16 Washington University with 48 points.  No. 7 Chicago claimed runner-up honors with 61 points while No. 15 Case Western took home third with 96 points.

Junior Tess Gallegos paced the Emory effort with a 6k time of 22:27, good for eighth place overall in the 76-runner field.  Senior Natalie Fenn was the second Eagle to cross the finish line with her performance of 22:33.7, placing her 14th in the field.  By virtues of their finish, both Gallegos and Fenn were Second Team All-UAA honorees.  Rounding out the Emory scorers were junior Sara Gelb (26th, 23:15), sophomore Melanie Frank (27th, 23:17) and sophomore Calley Edwards (30th, 23:23).

The men's squad finished eighth with 256 points.  Earning the title was No. 9-ranked Washington University with 42 points, while defending champ and No. 7 NYU was second with 51 points.

Sophomore Stephen Ellwood was the team's top finisher with an 8K showing of 27:02, 49th overall among the competitors.  Senior Kevin Lanza was next on the list with his time of 27:19 ranking 61st.

Both the men's women's teams return to action on Saturday, November 13, when they compete at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championships in Memphis, Tenn.
